Every class at QHPS participates in Physical education weekly.
PE provides students with knowledge, skills and behaviours to enable them to achieve a degree of autonomy in developing and maintaining their physical, mental, social and emotional health.
The aim of each PE lesson is to keep students physically active and develop the necessary skills, understandings and attitude to be life long participants in all sorts of physical activity and live active healthy lives.
The Junior years focus on development of fundamental motor skills and good sportsmanship
The Middle years focus on introducing the fundamental motor skills into game situations and developing teamwork skills.
The Senior years focus on effectively performing fundamental motor skills in game situations, planning and implementing tactic and strategies into game play, decision making and leadership skills.
At QHPS we have a number of sporting events the students are exposed to:-
- House Athletics Carnival
- QHPS Cross Country
- House Swimming Carnival
- House Tabloid Sports - (Prep - Grade 2)
- Basketball competitions
- District events which include tennis, swimming, cross country, athletics, football, netball and soccer for selected students.
Energy Breakthrough is an enjoyable and productive way of introducing primary students to technology, science and environmental education. The Human Powered Vehicle(HPV) is powered solely by the students. An integral part of building the HPV involves students thinking creatively and innovatively about the design, development and construction to ensure that it performs efficiently and effectively across all areas of the event.
